About Tarn

It started as one outfitter's booking desk.

Tarn wasn't dreamed up in a pitch deck. It grew out of software built to run a real rafting outfitter's season — and the conviction that small outfitters deserve tools built for them, not adapted to them.

The story

Before Tarn had a name, it was the software running one working rafting outfitter's desk. Real seasons: deposits taken at booking, waivers chased before launch, guides scheduled, and a manifest that had to be right every morning. Not a startup idea — a tool with a job.

Years of those seasons shaped what the software became, and it turned out that what one small outfitter needed is what most of them need: one system for booking, waivers, payments, guides, and conditions, priced so you can read the whole deal on a single page. So it was rebuilt from the ground up as a platform any outfitter can sign up for, and it got a name. A tarn is a small mountain lake — small, clear, and exactly where it belongs. That felt right.

Tarn is independent and deliberately small. There's no sales team and no venture math pushing fees up. When you email support, the person who builds the software answers.

What we believe

A few things we won't compromise on.

Built for the water

Every decision gets measured against a real morning at the ramp: put-ins, shuttles, flows, and a boat that has to launch on time. If it doesn't make that morning easier, it doesn't ship.

On the outfitter's side

Transparent pricing and no lock-in. Tarn earns its keep by being worth paying for — and if you ever leave, your bookings, contacts, and waivers come with you.

Calm software for wild work

The river is unpredictable enough. Software shouldn't add to it. It should hand you the facts, do the busywork, and get out of the way.
