Operators on Tarn can send booking-related text messages — reminders, waiver nudges, and payment links you ask for. This page explains the program: what gets sent, how consent works, and how to opt out.

What this covers

Tarn sends text messages on behalf of the outdoor adventure operators that use our platform. Messages relate to your bookings with those operators — this program is not used for marketing or promotional campaigns.

Messages you might receive

Depending on your bookings and what you've opted in to:

  • Trip reminders — typically a couple of days before your trip, with the date, time, and meeting location
  • Waiver reminders — if a signed waiver is still needed before your trip
  • Payment links you asked for — for example, a quote and payment link after you call an operator to book
  • Replies from the operator's staff when you text back

Consent

You only receive texts if you explicitly opt in — the checkbox at checkout is never pre-selected, and agreeing to texts is never a condition of booking. For payment links sent during a phone booking, the operator's staff confirm that you asked to receive the text before it's sent.

An example of the consent you'll see at checkout: "Send me text updates about this trip. Message frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help."

Opting out

Reply STOP, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, or QUIT to any message and you'll stop receiving texts at that number. Reply HELP for help, or contact the operator directly. Opting out of texts doesn't affect booking emails like confirmations and receipts.

Message frequency and rates

Message frequency varies with your booking activity — a typical booking generates only a message or two. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile plan, and carrier participation may vary.

Sample messages

Real messages come from the operator you booked with. For example:

  • "Kingfisher Rafting Co.: Reminder — Gorge Half-Day is in 2 days! Sat, Aug 15 at 9:00 AM. 123 River Rd, Index, WA. Reply STOP to opt out."
  • "Kingfisher Rafting Co.: Hi Jane, your Gorge Half-Day quote for Aug 15 is $240. Pay $100 to confirm your spot: [link] Reply STOP to opt out."

Your number and your consent records

We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers or SMS consent information with third parties for marketing. We keep records of opt-ins and opt-outs — when they happened and how — for compliance and auditing.
