Guest Terms

Last updated August 2026

You're here because you booked — or are about to book — a trip with a company that uses Tarn for bookings. These terms explain how booking and payment work, and who's responsible for what.

Who these terms cover

These terms apply when you book a trip, pay, sign a waiver, or manage a booking through a booking page powered by Tarn. The operator's own policies — their cancellation policy, waiver, and anything else they present during booking — apply alongside these terms and govern the trip itself.

Your trip is with the operator

When you book, you're entering into an agreement with the operator — the company running the trip — not with Tarn. The operator sets prices and availability, decides whether conditions are safe to run, makes cancellation and refund calls under their published policy, and is responsible for the trip itself and everything that happens on it.

Tarn provides the booking software and facilitates payment. We're not a party to your agreement with the operator, we don't operate trips, and we can't waive or change an operator's policies.

Booking and paying

You need to be 18 or older to make a booking. If you book for other people, you're responsible for sharing the booking details, these terms, and the operator's policies with them.

When you pay, you authorize the amounts shown at checkout to be charged to your card: the trip price, plus any booking fee shown as its own line. Cards are processed by Stripe — your card number goes directly to Stripe and never touches Tarn's servers. If you choose to save a card for future charges, it's stored with Stripe and we keep a record of your consent.

Booking fees and refunds

Some operators pass along a booking fee that covers platform and card-processing costs. If one applies, you'll see it as its own line — with the exact amount — before you pay. The total you see at checkout is the total you're charged.

Refunds are decided by the operator under their cancellation policy. When the operator refunds you, any booking fee you paid is refunded in proportion to the refund — if you get all of your trip price back, you get all of the fee back too.

The cancellation policy you agree to

The operator's cancellation policy is shown before you book, and booking requires agreeing to it. We record that agreement — including the exact policy you saw — with your booking, so there's never a dispute about which version applied. To cancel or change a booking, use the manage-booking link from your confirmation email or contact the operator directly.

Waivers

Many trips require signing the operator's liability waiver before you participate. Signing happens electronically: you type your name as your signature, and we record the signature, the time, and technical details (such as network address and the exact waiver text) so the operator can verify it later. A parent or legal guardian must sign for participants who are minors. The waiver's content — and what it means for your legal rights — comes from the operator, so read it.

Text messages

You'll only get texts if you opt in during checkout or ask for one — for example, a payment link during a phone booking. Reply STOP to any message to opt out. The SMS terms describe the program in full.

Your information

The operator you book with owns your booking relationship; Tarn stores and processes your information on their behalf. The privacy policy explains what's collected and how it's used. For requests about your personal information, the fastest path is usually the operator — but you can also contact us and we'll help.

Mistakes happen

Operators control their own listings, and sometimes a price, time, or description contains an error. If a booking is affected by an obvious error or a technical fault, the operator may correct or cancel it; if you don't want the corrected booking, you'll get your money back.

Fair use

Booking pages are for making real bookings. Don't use bots or scrapers, place fraudulent bookings, or interfere with the service. We may block traffic that does.

Liability

The operator is responsible for the trip — including injuries, losses, or damages connected to it. Claims about a trip are between you and the operator, subject to any waiver you signed.

For the booking service itself, Tarn's total liability to you is limited, to the extent the law allows, to the booking fee you paid Tarn for the affected booking or $100, whichever is greater. Nothing in these terms limits rights that consumer-protection law doesn't allow to be limited.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and of Tarn's home state. The mandatory consumer-protection laws of the place you live still apply to you. If part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
